Pennsylvania small business health insurance regulations

Pennsylvania health insurance companies must sell small business health insurance to any small business who qualifies. Furthermore, Pennsylvania small businesses must be offered the same health insurance sold to other Pennsylvania small business. To be eligible for Penssylvania small business health insurance a business can only have employees numbering between 2 and 50.

Also, employees may be required to meet a minimum level of participation in order for the company to qualify for Pennsylvania small business health insurance. Depending upon the health insurance company rules, a certain percentage of employees may be required to purchase the policy or the health insurance policy will be terminated.

Also, employers may be required to contribute a certain amount toward employee's premiums before the health insurance company agrees to sell the group a policy.

If both requirements are met, Pennsylvania health insurance companies must sell the qualifying small bsuiness health insurance once they apply.

On a different note, the cost of Pennsylvania small business health insurance is only lightly regulated by the state. The price of Pennsylvania small business health insurance can fluctuate due to health status, but within reason.

Finally, as with individual health insurance policies, illness can not be used as grounds for terminating a Pennsylvania small business health insurance policy.

Self-employed Pennsylvania health insurance

Buying health insurance as a self-employed individual is treated differently by each state's health insurance laws. According to Pennsylvania health insurance laws, self-employed individuals can not purchase group health insurance if there are no other employees.

Of course, with at least one other employee, Pennsylvania small business health insurance can be purchased.

Despite this disadvnatge, there is a big benefit to being a self-employed business owner and sole employee. In such a situation, a percentage of health insurance premiums can be deducted from your taxes if you are a self-employed individual and purchasing your own health insurance. Depending upon the year, 70% or 100% of your health insurance premiums can be deducted as an business deduction.
