Indiana health insurance laws

Indiana health insurance policies are required to include the following:

  • guaranteed renewability provision
  • exclusion period for pre-existing conditions of no more than 12 months.
  • 31 day coverage for newborns and adopted children

Indiana health insurance companies can:

  • deny you health insurance on the basis of your health and age
  • charge you higher premiums on the basis of your health and age, within limits

Indiana health insurance companies are prohibited from:

  • terminating an existing health insurance policy due to illness.
